Sherrills connection to the Battle of Kings Mountain and the Muster at Quaker Meadows.

It is well known that several Sherrills participated, as patriots, in the Battle of King's Mountain. The heads of the Sherrill families (sons and grandsons of Adam the Pioneer) who lived in East Tennessee (Franklin)/North Carolina and Rowan and Lincoln Counties in the early 1780s were participants in the battle of King's Mountain. John Sevier, husband of Catherine (Bonnie Kate) Sherrill was one of the army's generals. Men from the Green County area, met at Sycamore Shoals and marched to Quaker Meadows at Morganton, N.C. in September 1780 where they were joined by other armies of Wilkesboro and elsewhere along the trail. There were a number of Sherrrills in these armies.
